This lemonade is the perfect drink for a hot summer day. It is made with blueberries, lemon, water, dried lavender and sweetened with honey. The tart lemons pair so well with the blueberries and sweet lavender honey syrup, which adds a soft floral note. It is so easy to make and is the perfect drink to have on special occasions or as a mocktail.

Lavender used to make this drink

This drink was inspired by myĀ Lavender Simple Syrup recipe. This can be used to make aĀ Lavender Latte, sweetened tea, or added to lemonade. For this lavender lemonade recipe, I decided to add blueberries for the gorgeous color that they create!

The lavender I use for all my recipes is an organic dried lavender. It is important to use culinary lavender, which means that it is the kind of lavender that has been grown for consumption and has good flavor. Technically all lavender is edible, but some taste much better than others. If you have fresh lavender from your garden, you could also use that! Or, use it as a really pretty garnish for the drink.

This is theĀ Dried LavenderĀ I use and love! It is Organic and good to use in recipes or things like baked goods. It is also great to use just to brew a cup of tea. Lavender is a great holistic remedy for stress and anxiety. (Learn more about holistic remedies to reduce anxiety here.)Ā

Tools to make this recipe

Fine mesh strainerĀ – this is needed to strain out the lavender and blueberries from the liquid.Ā

Small ice cube traysĀ – this is totally not necessary, but I love the shape of ice these trays make!

Ingredients for the Blueberry Lavender Lemonade

For the lavender syrup

  • Dried lavender – be sure that the lavender is culinary grade
  • Water – filtered water
  • Honey – used to sweeten the lemonade. This recipe makes a tart lemonade, so if you want it sweeter add another 1/4 cup of honey.

For the lemonade base

  • Blueberries – you can use frozen or fresh blueberries
  • Lemon juice – you can either use fresh squeezed lemon juice, or store-bought. I like the brand Santa Cruz because it tastes pretty close to fresh squeezed.
  • Water – you’ll top it off with 5 more cups of water
  • Fresh lemons– to garnish. This is optional but it makes the drink look pretty!

Remove the pot from the heat and add in dried lavender. Place a tight-fitting lid on top. Steep the lavender for 5-10 minutes. Then, place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or jar and then pour liquid through the strainer. Use a spatula and gently push down on the lavender to remove all of the liquid.

Add the liquid back to the pot and add in the honey and blueberries. Bring to a simmer and cook until the blueberries have started to burst.
