Why you should drink bone broth- according to a Nutritionist

Is bone broth just another trendy thing you see online, or is it actually a superfood that you should be drinking? A Holistic Nutritionist breaks it down for you. I have to admit when I first heard about drinking bone broth, I was immediately turned off by it. Something about the word “bone” being in…

Carrageenan- A Food Additive to Avoid

There are so many food additives now, and it can be really hard to decipher what is harmless and what may be causing health issues in our bodies. Especially when they use scientific names that we have no idea what it even is. For example, “Ascorbic Acid” is just another name for vitamin C, so…

Yesterday was one of those motherhood days. I was Yesterday was one of those motherhood days.

I wasn’t feeling well, and my little guy is teething, so he was extra fussy and needed lots of snuggles. It’s hard enough being sick, but being sick while taking care of a baby is a whole different level.

I ate a little breakfast and a small lunch, but I was so distracted by the day I didn’t feel very hungry. The day felt long, I was tired, and I was counting down the minutes until my husband got home.

When he finally walked through the door, he brought Thai food. I didn’t even sit down to eat. I just scarfed it down while standing in the kitchen.

And almost immediately, I felt better. Not 100%, but enough to realize something….

As moms, we’re so busy taking care of everyone else that sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. We keep going, push through, and put our own needs on the back burner.

But food matters.

Sometimes the difference between feeling completely drained and feeling like you can handle the rest of the day is simply eating a nourishing meal.

I’ve done this more times than I’d like to admit while postpartum…

But it’s also one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping moms with simple meals and recipes. Because feeding ourselves is so important yet can be so overlooked. It’s part of how we show up for the people who need us most.

So consider this your reminder today, mama:

Have a snack. Eat lunch. Order the takeout if you need to.

And If you’re in the thick of motherhood today, I see you. 🤍

All I knew was I had ground beef in the fridge and needed something easy….

So I made this ground beef and broccoli!

I browned the meat, made an easy savory sauce made with coconut aminos, garlic, ginger and few other pantry staples, used frozen broccoli, and made some white rice.

And just like that dinner was done! And bonus points because I also was able to unload the dishwasher while it was simmering.

I call that a win! 😍

Recipe & tips 👇🏻 If you want to learn how to cook Recipe & tips 👇🏻

If you want to learn how to cook nourishing meals without needing a recipe every single time, here are a few tips that helped me:

✨ 1. Stock your pantry and freezer with staples. Think bone broth, quality meats, grains, beans, frozen veggies, and your favorite seasonings. Having a solid base on hand makes it easy to create a meal without a grocery run.

✨ 2. Practice swapping ingredients. Don’t have carrots? Use sweet potatoes. Out of onions? Try shallots or use onion powder. Think in categories (protein, veggie, starch, flavor) instead of exact ingredients.

✨ 3. Taste as you go. It helps you learn what flavors you love and teaches you to trust yourself in the kitchen.

✨ 4. Embrace imperfection. Real food made with love doesn’t have to look perfect to be delicious.

👉🏻 This isn’t an exact recipe, just roughly how I made this super tender pot roast!

Ingredients:
• Chuck roast
• Garlic
• Onion
• Carrots
• Potatoes
• Fresh thyme
• Salt + pepper
• Broth

Directions:
Sear the chuck roast on both sides until golden. Add everything to a Dutch oven, cover, and bake at 325°F for about 3 hours — or until fall-apart tender. That’s it. Simple, cozy, nourishing. 🫶🏼

Cooking this way saves time, money, and food waste… but most of all, it builds confidence in the kitchen.

I love meals that don’t really need a recipe—just I love meals that don’t really need a recipe—just a little creativity, what you have on hand, and a whole lot of love! ❤️

This chili started as a way to use up some smoked brisket we had in the freezer, and it turned into the coziest dinner. I made a big batch and tucked a few jars away in the freezer—it’s such a gift to my future self.

Especially as I’m prepping for postpartum, I’m thinking ahead to those days when time and energy feel low. Having nourishing meals ready to go means one less thing to stress about, and I can focus on rest, recovery, and soaking up baby snuggles.

Even if you’re not postpartum, freezing extra chili is so helpful for those busy weeks or rainy days when you just want something warm, hearty, and satisfying without any effort.

Here’s what I added to my pot:
✨ Spices: chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, chipotle, salt + pepper
✨ Protein: ground beef + smoked brisket
✨ Veggies: garlic, onion, bell pepper
✨ Basics: fire roasted green tomatoes, pinto beans, bone broth

Let it all simmer for about an hour and… perfection.

Full of flavor, protein, and comfort.

There’s just something special about meals like this—where you don’t need exact measurements or a strict recipe… you just cook from the heart and nourish the people you love. 🥣 (And this chili was hubby approved!!)
