Lavender Latte with Homemade Syrup
This recipe uses homemade Lavender syrup to make a delicious latte that is low in natural sugar. You’re going to love this healthier version of Starbucks’ seasonal Lavender Latte!
Spring is here and with the new season, came new featured drinks at Starbucks. I have a love for lavender lattes, so when I saw Starbucks release their Lavender Latte, I had to try it! It’s honestly not the best one I’ve tried, but it inspired me to make a healthier version to make right at home!

How much sugar is in the Starbucks Lavender Latte?
According to the Starbucks website, the Lavender Latte contains 20 grams of sugar. This isn’t the most sugary drink from Starbucks (a mocha contains 35 grams of sugar) but it still has enough to set you up for a huge blood sugar spike and crash! Especially if you order it as an oat milk latte like their menu suggests. If you want to have this latte from Starbucks, I recommend substituting the oat milk for regular milk for higher protein and fewer empty carbs.

The syrup used in this Lavender Latte recipe is made with honey and only contains 9 grams of sugar per tablespoon of syrup!

While I am impressed that they use coloring from carrots and black currants instead of artificial dyes, they still use inflammatory oils (canola and soybean) and the oat milk contains a lot of additives. Creating your own latte at home not only lowers your sugar content but also removes the extra additives in the Starbucks version!

- Espresso
- Milk of choice
How to make a Lavender Latte
First, brew your espresso, and then add 1 tablespoon of Lavender Simple Syrup.
Next, add ice if you are making an iced latte, and then pour over the milk of your choice. Or, add in steamed milk for a hot latte.
Can I use regular coffee instead of espresso?
Yes! Simply add the Lavender Simple Syrup to your regular coffee and a splash of half and half for creaminess!
Is this recipe gluten-free or dairy-free?
The lavender syrup is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free. When making your latte, opt for plant-based milk to make it dairy-free.

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp lavender simple syrup
- 2 shots of espresso
- 8 oz frothed milk of choice
Instructions

1. Make 2 shots of espresso
2. Add to a coffee mug and then add in 1 tbsp of lavender simple syrup (adjust to your preferred sweetness level)
3. Add in frothed milk and enjoy!
To make regular coffee:
1. Add coffee to mug and add in 1 tbsp of lavender simple syrup
2. Add in a splash of half and half for creaminess and enjoy!
Notes
To make an iced latte, add espresso and lavender syrup to a glass, and fill it with ice. Then top with milk of choice.
