Fresh and Easy Guacamole

Sharing is caring!

This guacamole is so fresh and easy to make you will never have a need to buy store-bought again! Made with fresh avocado, cilantro, lime, red onions, and a few seasonings from your cabinet.

This guacamole is ALWAYS requested by my friends to bring to our taco nights. I never had a recipe for it, I just threw it together and added things until it tasted right. It was always a hit, and I was always asked how to make it. I finally measured things out and put it in recipe form. So, this recipe is for you, Camille & London. ❤️

The back story

My two best friends and I have been friends since middle school, and I honestly feel so blessed that I have two friends I have grown up with. We have seen each other through so many different phases in life, all of the ups and downs, and all the new seasons each of us have grown into. Now that we are adults and live much further away from each other, we do not get together as often as we would like. But when we do, it’s like not a single day has gone by without seeing each other.

Every time we see each other, we always end up making some form of tacos and drinking margaritas. Definitely a tradition I am not complaining about! The item I started bringing was fresh guacamole. I never had measurements for it, I just “went with my heart” and added ingredients until it tasted good. But I was asked enough times that I finally measured the ingredients and wrote it in recipe form. And now it is here on my blog for YOU to enjoy too!

What you’ll need to make the guacamole

Avocados

Red onion

Cilantro

Lime

Garlic Powder

Cumin

Salt

Equipment

You really don’t need anything fancy for this easy guacamole recipe (a fork works just fine!), but here are some tools I like to keep in my kitchen:

Citrus Juicer – I LOVE this style because it has a measuring cup attached to it.

Meat Chopper – Okay, so this is really meant for breaking up ground meat when cooking, but I love to find multiple uses for tools, and it is fantastic for smashing avocados!!

How to make fresh guacamole

  1. Cut avocados in half, scoop out the meaty part, and put them into a medium-sized bowl. Mash avocados using a fork or potato masher. You can leave it chunky, or make it smooth, whichever you prefer.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients: red onions, cilantro, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and lime juice. Stir/mash to combine.

I told you it was easy!

Tips for making fresh guacamole

  1. This is a GREAT way to use up avocados that are getting too soft.
  2. It is best to wait at least an hour to let all the flavors meld before serving. Put the guacamole in the fridge to get nice and cool when you are waiting.
  3. This recipe is meant for four servings, but you can easily cut the recipe in half or double it for more people!
  4. Add guacamole to a small container for storage. Add a piece of plastic wrap on top and push it down to get all the air out. This will help keep the guacamole from turning brown.
How much guacamole should I make?

I like to average one medium-sized avocado per person. This will give you enough to eat with tortilla chips and to put on top of your tacos!
